Spot Win is proud to announce the Spring 2006 schedule of intense level specific
clinics designed to help create the competitive “thinking agility dog”
from foundation to finish.
Clinics
will be held in LaPorte in my newly refurbished indoor training building.
The
100’ x 50’ lighted building boasts a state of the art Pro X floor
comprised of 1.4” closed cell foam with a carpet cover to insure a soft
landing after every step.

information
Because of the nature of this flooring
pottying inside will be seriously frowned on, in other words I will get real
upset, therefore all dogs when not participating in an instructed exercise
will be in a crate or supervised on leash

Foundation: For puppies from 12 weeks to 12 months.
This 9 hour clinic (Six 1.5 hour sessions March – April) is for those
who aspire to compete in agility and want to learn the proper foundation necessary
to raise a “thinking dog”. We will cover foundation training from
the very beginning with the emphasis being on flat area work, attention, body
language, hand signals, defining cues, flexibility training, and very beginning
obstacle work such as flat board and tippy boards. Building toy and/or food
drive as well as obedience for agility skills will be taught. This is not
an obstacle focus or sequencing class it is all about you, your dog and your
relationship with your dog as it applies to the competition agility field.
This class is also designed to help define responsibilities your vs. your
dogs and to help create an organized training system from the ground up.
Fee for the course is: $250. Max. number of dog/handler teams 8
Transitions:
For dogs 12 months and up. This 9 hour clinic ( Six 1.5 hour sessions March-April)
is for those who aspire to compete in agility and want to learn how to transition
from initial learning to independent understanding of behaviors necessary
to proper obstacle performance, and flat area cues. The transitions course
will offer jump training, applying bottom contact behavior to the full obstacle
(help to fill gaps and/or holes in contact training), weave pole training,
application of flat area cues to obstacles and overview of flat area cue fundamentals.
Initial front/rear cross techniques, outside turn cue all applied to equipment.
Start line performance will be evaluated and perfected as well. This is not
a sequencing class but a course designed to introduce and/or improve obstacle
awareness and performance skills. This clinic will incorporate initial handling
skills necessary to start putting it all together.
Fee for this course is: $250. Max. number of dog/handler teams 8
Putting it all together: For dogs 12 months and up.
This 9 hour course ( Six 1.5 hour sessions March-April) is for those who aspire
to compete in agility and are ready to start “putting it all together”.
In this class we will introduce and improve sequencing skills as well as initiate
proper timing and handling utilizing multiple obstacle configurations. This
course introduces handling the 270, serpentines, threadles, layering, beginning
course strategy and analysis, pre-cues, and of course side changes at speed.
In this class we will be exploring more difficult lead outs and the necessity
of a good stay. There will be special emphasis on body language and learning
to “read your dog” on course.
Pre-requisites for this class are complete obstacle performance skills on
all obstacles including weave poles. The dog must be able to hold a stay.
Fee for this course is: $250. Max. number of dog/handler teams 8
C MY SPOT WIN: For dogs competing at the upper levels.
This 9 hour course (Six 1.5 hour sessions March-April) is for those already
competing in agility that want to learn how to shave off those extra seconds
or use distance when necessary to stay ahead of the super fast dog, how to
strategize and analyze a better course plan. This clinic will help you to
utilize all of the skills you have taught and improve and teach the ones you
haven’t. This class is designed with serious sequencing in mind and
will test both you and your dog on difficult configurations. We will push
the envelope on lead outs, keep you on your toes with level of difficulty
and push you to think through tough spots for the answer that best fits you
and your dog. We will also explore short sequences and exercises that will
help improve timing and efficiency. Pre-requisites for this class are independent
obstacle negotiation skills on all obstacles including weave poles. The dog
must be able to maintain a stay through a 2 jump lead out.
Fee for this course: $250. Max. number of dog/handler teams
